The Grove First is a group of concerned local residents, merchants and concerned citizens who oppose the placement of a commercial “warehouse” and retailer in the center of its Village. The site is zoned Commercial One (C1) which is the least onerous use, allowed to exist next to residential housing. C1 uses include restaurants, grocery stores, butcher shops, and laundry facilities. It does not include 70,000 square foot warehouses, which also sell retail.

       A large box warehouse such as Home Depot will create a wall of traffic from US 1 to 27^th Avenue, Shipping to Macdonald. We will become the repository for many orange shopping carts, the overflow parking when Home Depot utilizes its parking lot to rent heavy equipment, dumpsters, erect a tent (using 65 spaces) for the sale of  Christmas trees, and nursery goods. S.W. 8^th St. is a perfect example of Home Depot’s failure to recognize its neighbors.

        Home Depot is not good for those who work, live and sell in the Village Center.
